Today was a short class in which our supervisor wanted us to level out again. We worked pretty good today but not as good as we usually do. We are studly no one can dig like team bravo digs. I cant wait for next weeks adventure to see what we will uncover in the famous Tel'Yar.

Today is our only long day of digging we got a lot of work done today. We almost fully uncovered the pillar which we found the previous day. We totally leveled out our square. During the class period today one of our art classes came and watched us dig. Our supervisor led them around and showed them what was going on. Half way through the day we had shake break which was very enjoyable. My chocolate shake hit the spot.

Today was once again a short day. We got a lot of work done and moved a lot of dirt very quickly. We found the start of what we think to be some sort of pillar. We articulated the tip of the pillar and leveled out or square we are getting close to what seem to be the floor, stopping point in or dig. In which we will start a new square and begin the process all over again.

Today is monday and as usual was a very short day. We did not dig today but we had younger kids come around and look at our squares. We taught different process of archaeology. Many people think archaeologists just dig holes with shovels. This is completely wrong we use a pick for the hard work, of breaking up and moving dirt quickly. Then once we found what most likely will be a very fragile item we use smaller tools such a a patiche and trowel. These are used for articulating, in which you pull dirt away from the object with out removing it from the ground. The young kids had a lot of fun today and i think it was very beneficial and taught them a lot.

10/22/08

Today is our long period we have about an hour and a half to dig and we generally make a lot of progress. We are trying to go down about 20 inches today, but at the same time stay level. Our supervisor offered us milkshakes the next long period if every group worked hard. This got all of the group to work much harder than usual. Everyone made a lot of progress and we uncovered what we believe to be the base of a statue. We also decided to play a practical joke and all of the groups we bottomed and one of the buckets and filled it with dirt. The reaction wasn't worth all of our work to bottom out the bucket.

10/21/08

We went out to the dig site today. We don't have much time but we got a good bit done we finished replacing our rubber bands. Today we extricated the the marble plate that we found. Extrication is the process of taking an object that we find out of the dirt. In this process we have to photograph and tag the item. The plate seems to be pretty priceless.

10/20/08

Today is Monday its a short day and we are just setting up our squares again. We used rubber bands to mark off our squares. A square is specified section in a field where your group digs. Today we were switching out the rubber bands for tires. The rubber bands dry rotted the first time they got wet the tires should stand up to the conditions much better. All of the groups finished what needed to be done for the day.

Today is my first day back to archeology in nearly a week. Our senior class went on a bonding retreat called Camp Eagle. We did not dig today, we just stayed in the class room and were informed of our new stratigraphy top sheets. Stratigraphy is the heights we take of our dig sites. It shows our progression and proves if we are digging level.

Today was a very short day we have a football game so we didn't do too much we went down a few inches but mostly just leveled out today which was good for our group. Leveling out gives you a sense of accomplishment which is always nice. I am starting to really enjoy this class.

10/1/08

Today was block day so we had an hour and half and got a lot day in that amount of time. Today we found a tiny jugglet which is a small pitcher. Our leader was very excited about our find just as the rest of our group. We are starting to have a lot of fun and another reason wednesday is my favorite day to dig is because of fruit break.
